Beautiful hotel perfectly located a stone throw away from Killarney city centre. Friendly staff & fantastic service at both check in & breakfast. Will definitely stay here again & highly recommend.

Nice stay.

A La Carte 3 Course Meal was probably the best I have had. Butternut Squash, Coconut and Lemongrass soup was delicious, as was my wife's starter of scallops. I choose the vegetarian option as a main course and it was also delicious as was the lamb main course And the desserts finished off a five star dining experience, enjoyed with a bottle of Malbec. I look forward to selecting different options from their menu the next time we visit. Everyone including the concierge greeting guests at the front door, receptionists, waiters, barmen, and general staff around the hotel contribute to the Great Southern experience. Full disclosure, I wouldn't have a great deal of experience with four star hotels but I would have no hesitation in recommending The Great Southern. The leisure club including the swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi was also very enjoyable. Next time, we hope to use the tennis courts!.!

Stayed for a special birthday and felt a few things let the hotel down on this occasion. I found stains upon pulling back the sheets, to be fair, this was handled very quickly and effectively by staff, we were upgraded and moved immediately. The bar is under renovation which takes from the stay somewhat, the temporary bar (during the day) is in the reading room, a very small room, not comfortable, there are seats in the lobby but everyone is passing you to check in and get to their rooms etc. Fredericks was meant to be the evening bar but it was closed when we tried to go there after dinner, which was only about 9pm. Dinner in the Garden Room was average, staff were lovely though. Breakfast was very nice. Overall, ok stay.

Un séjour très réconfortant dans un hôtel belle époque avec beaucoup de charme à l'ancienne. Le staff était hyper accueillant et chaleureux, attentionné, et irreprochable dans leur professionalisme. Nous étions logés à cinq dans une énorme "chambre de famille" (récemment rénovée) qui était très spacieuse et confortable - plutôt un mini appartement qu'une simple chambre (avec une très grande chambre principale qui pouvait accueillir un lit parapluie et un bureau et d'autres meubles sans être encombrée du tout), une salle de bain élégante et toute neuve, un WC séparé, et une petite chambre d'enfants avec des lits superposés pour 2 enfants (et leur propre télé à eux - pratique quand il leur fallait un moment calme devant un dessin animé). Nous étions cinq dans cette "chambre de famille" pendant un séjour de cinq nuits et franchement, c'était excellent. L'hôtel est hyper bien placé dans le centre-ville de Killarney, qui est une base idéale pour explorer de splendides coins rénommés de l'Ile d'Emeraude - comme le Ring of Kerry et le Gap of Dunloe. Je ne suis pas très objectif, mais pour moi le comté de Kerry est le plus beau, le plus charmant et le plus magique de toute l'Irlande. Les repas dans le joli bar ont été excellents, de même dans la magnifique salle à manger un peu plus formelle (mais qui reste très accueillante). Les petits déjeuners ont été absolument superbes - buffet pour les éléments froids mais service à table très attentionnée pour les éléments chauds comme le petit déjeuner traditionnel irlandais qui était sublime (bacon, oeufs, saucisses, boudin irlandais etc.). Egalement, la piscine intérieure a beaucoup plu aux enfants. Je recommande à 100%, et merci encore aux membres du personnel, qui ont tous été tellement gentils avec nos enfants en bas âge!

Hotel molto bello situato in un parco meraviglioso. Struttura veramente bella sia nelle zone comuni che nella camere tutte rigorosamente senza aria condizionata e senza frigo bar . Problema comune in tutta Irlanda quasi . Personale gentilissimo. Tutto molto pulito . Purtroppo la colazione viene servita in una sala enorme che sarebbe bella senza tutto l’ammasso di tavoli e tavolini vicinissimi uno all’altro per farci stare più gente possibile . Uno degli alberghi con il buffet più povero in assoluto che abbiamo trovato .Dalla carta si può anche ordinate piatti per chi invece di colazione fa pranzo. Il maitre che riceve all’entrata sarebbe perfetto per ricevere i partecipanti di un funerale Peccato con un esterno favoloso di questo genere con poco sforzo ed un po’ di fantasia si potrebbe rendere la colazione più piacevole anche se il … buffet purtroppo resterebbe quello . Un hotel che si è dovuto piegare al turismo dei bus e di massa

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Great Southern. Our room was lovely - it had a balcony with a pretty view, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and the claw tub was a perfect way to end a long day of sight seeing. We enjoyed the breakfast, the bar, and also really loved listening to the piano player in the lobby in the evening while enjoying a glass of wine. Location was perfect and very close to Killarney. Overall, lovely stay!

What a gorgeous entrance to a hotel, it’s called GRAND for a reason! We loved hearing the piano player, sitting on the beautiful couches, and smelling the lovely scent they pipe through the room. The staff are incredibly friendly, and breakfast was divine (our favorite of all the hotels we visited). With that said, the actual rooms were a little dated and could use a refresh. We stayed in a room with a queen, and two twins. The furniture was scratched, but not in a classic antique way, more in a need-to-be-replaced way. I found the bed to be lumpy, and the bathroom although large, was poorly lit. They have a beautiful make-up mirror, but with no light above the counter, it was useless. I would rate the hotel five stars, if only the room seemed a bit fresher (like the lobby!)

From the moment we sat down this was the most unappealing afternoon tea we have ever experienced. We were not given menus and asked “coffee or tea?” When we asked if there was a list of teas she said “If you really need to do that.” And gave us two menus for five people. And the tea was one sad tea bag with the type of tea cup and pot found in a diner. The food was underwhelming. The sandwiches were stale and the sweets tasted store bought. However the scones were excellent! Sadly we cannot recommend this tea. And as veterans of 50 or so different afternoon teas around the world we have to put this solidly in last place.

When we arrived at the hotel I asked about the availability of a hot tub as I was having some pains. I was told that they couldn't get parts for the current hot tub, but a new one was on order. To my surprise I had a knock on my hotel room door. Evelyn from the Conceirge desk had gone to a pharmacy and purchased a heat pack for me. I could not believe how much this hotel staff would go out of their way to make me comfortable. Evelyn was so kind and thoughtful. We had two dinners and two breakfasts in the dining room. The food was very good. The rooms were very nice. I highly recommend this hotel. It was a highlight on my wonderful Irish holiday.

Spent 2 very enjoyable nights in Great Southern Hotel, we were looked after very well Sunday night in the dining room by all the staff especially Sebastian who couldn't have been nicer and more efficient . We enjoyed meeting Liam in the bar who was so friendly and chatty. Regards The Cork Ladies

The Great Southern Killarney is an absolutely BEAUTIFUL property! The staff is OUTSTANDING ~ so friendly, so helpful, and very polite. They go above & beyond their "job descriptions" if that makes sense. LOL!

After the initial mix up with the room, and a prompt for a cup of tea while we waited for them to ready a ready. The room was adequate, twin beds pushed together - obvious by their fixed to wall headboards. The pool was overrun with children, jumping in and throwing a mini rugby ball at pace across the pool. Fireworks for a wedding that night were and added bonus and the hotel had thought ahead to pre-warn and invite viewing. Not a 4 star hotel but adequate.

Loved every minute of our stay here. Staff were super friendly and the room was so comfortable. Food was really good and the bar staff were great craic and made great cocktails!
