I have travelled extensively throughout New Zealand, Australia and the world and without doubt the nightmare experience of staying at the Quest Apartment Hotel in New Plymouth would be somewhere amongst the worst choices for accommodation that I have regrettably made. To explain, I regularly work when I travel and as a result often book larger and more spacious rooms to avoid a feeling of working in a bedroom. In this particular instance I booked a 1 Bedroom Executive Apartment which was supposed to be 55 sq m in floorspace, the room I was assigned felt smaller and did not match any of the photos or the detailed description provided on ether the Quest Website or the ******* Website where I had booked this accommodation. Did they provide me with me with a different standard of room?, who knows, they certainly didn’t own up to having made any mistake when provided the opportunity. Additionally, none of the pictures provided for any of the rooms show the shockingly high windows that provide the only source of natural light to the living space in my room, I have taken photos from Room: 103 and will try to post this somewhere. I have read some reviews following my stay that someone else also highlighted the window situation in their room and very correctly described their stay as “like being in a prison cell”. As if this wasn’t already enough of a claustrophobic experience, all of the windows are fixed glass panels and cannot be opened. Do yourself a favour and avoid staying here.
