Great stay! It was really a nice hotel and the area is cozy. Ended up booking the same room for 5 more nights!

Sadly, the Mark Twain has not been updated nor maintained in quite a long time. Sounds like it’s being sold again, and clearly not doing well. Walls are paper thin, our shower was in disrepair. Everything is old and decrepit and dirty. No coffee in the morning, the canisters just sit empty. The employees are barely interactive and seem to hate their job. Really wanted to enjoy the charm of this place, but unfortunately it’s just so run down that it feels unsafe.

If all you need is a place to just sleep then it’s good. If you’re looking for ANY amenities like coffee, or literally anything this is not the place. Front desk worker was very nice, parking lot is sketchy, building is older, rooms are small but did the basic job. It’s cheap for a reason.

I checked in and out in less than an hour. I went with a friend and her young son. The area is extremely sketchy and unsafe. We were told there is no maintenance workers for the hotel, and there would be no hotel workers after 11PM. We also were moved from one room to another because the TV in the first room didn’t work. The TV in the second room also didn't work. The room doors don’t close all the way. Carpets in both rooms had food crumbs all over, and there was food stains on the furniture. They weren’t cleaned, and it was DISGUSTING. When we walked in, the ONE lobby girl was not even inside the hotel. She was, otherwise, pleasant and kind to us, but failed to mention the free breakfast was not being offered anymore. I had to ask for this information. Again, we checked in and out in less than an hour and opted to spend extra money to stay somewhere else.

The lobby area is really nice, got into an elevator with smooth jazz playing so thought the place was swanky. Got off the elevator and quickly realized i was in a seedy hotel. Went in the room and was immediately disappointed. Beds were janky with the mattresses in what appeared to be waterbed frames. Small TV with crappy cable that the 2 good channels were bad reception. No continental breakfast as promised. Not even coffee in the room or lobby. Will never stay there again.

Room was poorly taken care of. Burnt out light bulbs, disgusting carpet, peeling paint. The bathroom shower allowed water to get outside of shower requiring extra towels for the floor. Restaurant attached permanently closed. Hallways to rooms are low ceiling and dark.

I haven’t been there for years I was once a nice I’m not gonna critique anything about the hotel, except for the two things that really bothered me, number one was the freaking elevator. We used it once it was very slow then it did not work again. I’ve been ill, and I have severe asthma, and the five flights of stairs, after having come back from a for me, and it made me very unhappy, then I go into my room and get into the bed for the first time and I am a comfy bed girl. This bed was completely the opposite. No sleep comfort at all. The pluses were the bathroom was very clean and had really wonderful products in the shower. The shampoo and conditioner and body wash were really nice. I usually stay in pretty nice hotels, and I’m always fair, I will really try and be the elevator was very disappointing, because I could barely make it up there without wheezing and needed my inhaler after, but the bed was a dealbreaker, I want comfort I have health issues that I need a nice bed. Definitely need to do some upgrades. Your parking is great. Your location is nice. Do something to make it even better deal with the elevator put in some comfortable beds.

Certainly didnt ruin the trip, but in the spirit of honesty the elevators were down when we stayed.

I’m disabled. The door next to handicap parking, broken. Had to walk around building, through a dark scary lot, over very uneven concrete, and a hill that’s difficult for me to climb. The front door only opens half way. There’s no luggage cart. There was no communication from the booking company to the hotel. Yeah, you guys! I paid extra for a 7th floor river view and extra towels and toiletries. The desk clerk said top floors have been closed because of pipe damage and flooding and have been for months! I paid EXTRA for a special stay, instead I get whatever is leftover! No choice but take the room, step onto elevator and trip! It doesn’t level with the floor. The room… Curtain didn’t close. It was completely broken! Phone, no dial tone. Bathroom, no soap, no towels. Desk clerk has us try another room. Not him, but us. That room hadn’t even been cleaned! The third room the fan wouldn’t stay on. The bed frame stuck out bruising my shins! The shower had no door just half a glass panel. The shower head too high to reach. I almost slipped through glass trying to adjust it! Everything in bathroom was wet afterwards. The toilet, toilet paper, sink, floor. This hotel is very dangerous!!! Also the first clerk said I could park next to the front door behind the concierge’s vehicle since I’m disabled. Next day new clerk said I can’t. I want my money back! I won’t be booking with them or YOU again!
