Just a one night stay with my family. The river rooms are very nice and confortable, very clean, great view, good airconditioning and silent. We had buffet dinner, the food was very good. Not a huge buffet but the quality was good and the service also. The view form the Restaurant at sun set was great. Breakfast was also buffet, simple but good, the athmosphere was good, just relaxing viewing Douro.

We arrived this morning, having heard lovely comments, over breakfast, from a guest that stayed here yesterday. We're were not disappointed, the place is a true gem! Whilst booking, several months ago, I somehow managed to get my travel dates wrong and was contacted very quickly, by staff, to query this. My mistake was rectified with no drama and I had very good vibes about the the place. Now, unfortunately, I am a very light sleeper, I'm quite dreadful and the room we were allocated overlooked the railway line, at the rear of the hotel. Whilst I pondered how I would manage, 3 trains went through and my wife told me that I would struggle sleeping. I popped down to reception, apologised and explained my predicament. Not only was I immediately changed to a quieter room, it was also an even nicer room than the first one. I'm sure that this will set the scene for the remainder of our stay here and I feel very lucky and most grateful for the help I've received. Stay at The Original Douro Hotel, it's the nicest place we've stayed at so far during this holiday and I'm sure that you will be asdelighted as I am.

Estive hospedado por estar a trabalhar nas redondezas. Não posso dizer que foi a melhor estadia da minha experiência profissional, no entanto, a simpatia de todo o staff acaba por contribuir muito para uma ótima experiência. Infelizmente, não tive a melhor experiência devido à falta de insonorização nos quartos que permite com que se ouçam bastante os ruídos do exterior e dos corredores. Outro aspecto negativo foi o tamanho da casa de banho que, por ser demasiado pequena e apertada, não permite muita mobilidade, principalmente para quem tem necessidade de se vestir na mesma. A pequena varanda, a diversidade do pequeno almoço e a simpatia de todo o staff foram mesmo os pontos fortes. Para quem está em trabalho, como era o meu caso, e precisa mesmo de descansar, se tiver o sono pesado, o colchão é bastante confortável e conseguirá certamente fazê-lo. Já as pessoas com um sono mais leve, devido aos ruídos, poderão ter algumas dificuldades.
