We were very excited about the idea of staying at Secret Bay, which is widely presented as one of the most exclusive luxury resorts in the Caribbean. Unfortunately, our experience before even arriving has been extremely disappointing. For more than a week, we were trying to finalize a reservation via email. During this exchange, the hotel confirmed the availability of a villa and provided us with a specific rate. After this confirmation, however, we received no response for three days, despite sending follow-up messages. When the hotel eventually replied, we were simply informed that the villa was no longer available and that the only remaining option was a larger villa at almost double the price. What makes this situation particularly frustrating is that the delay came entirely from their side. During that time, the villa was apparently sold through other booking channels. For a property positioning itself as a five-star luxury resort, one would expect a higher level of professionalism, including: • responsive communication, • proper management of reservation requests, • and some respect for the availability and rates that were already discussed with potential guests. This experience unfortunately leaves the impression that quoted rates and availability can simply disappear if a higher-priced booking appears in the meantime. A very disappointing experience for a hotel with such a strong reputation.
