塞爾瓦生物站酒店(La Selva Biological Station)

Merci à Luis pour son accueil, ses explications claires, son humour et son accuite visuelle et auditive. Nous lui pardonnons ses recherches de perrozosos qui sont restées vaines... Super visite. A recommander. Nous avons vu des toucans, les grenouilles costaricaines, un fourmilier (exceptionnel), des motmotes, des pavés....

En este lugar hay una gran variedad de aves, los senderos están en buenas condiciones, además, los guías son muy amables y explican cada detalle, incluso algunos de ellos imitan el sonido de las aves.

Si vous aimez l'univers carcéral (dormir dans une cellule de prison avec uniquement des lits individuels ou superposés) et bénéficier de la malbouffe universitaire avec un verre d'eau, alors vous allez adorer. N'hésitez surtout pas à faire l'excursion nocturne, qui consiste à marcher pendant 2 heures dans une humidité prodigieuse, pour observer 3 malheureux crapauds et deux minuscules serpents. Puis regagnez votre suite royale située à 1 km de là, en pleine nuit. Le lendemain matin, calculez bien votre coup, car il convient de refaire le kilomètre pour parvenir à la cantine, et arriver avant 7h45. Car à 7h50, il n'y a plus rien à manger. En résumé, un lieu incontournable pour les voyageurs masochistes.

A great experience. We saw a lot of wildlife, firstly on the guided tour, and later exploring the tracks on our own. There are many kilometres of tracks and very few people, mainly scientists and students, so if you want to get away from annoying crowds this is a good choice. The accommodation and food are basic but perfectly adequate, and the staff are helpful.

We spent three days at the Biological Station and I think our daughter would have been happy to stay there forever. The accommodations are simple but comfortable and located within walking distance of the main area ... . and the walk is beautiful through the forest. Meals are eaten in a common area with other guests, researchers and staff. The meals are likewise simple but good. The staff here is very helpful in getting you settled in. Laundry is done on campus and available for a nominal charge. There is a nature walk every morning at 8 that is fabulous ... the guides are very friendly and helpful and can point out birds, animals and insects that we would have missed. They provide you with a wealth of information. Guides are also available for hire for private walks, including night-time walks. The rest of the time, you are able to enjoy the extensive trails covering the reserve on your own. Other guests are always happy to share what they've seen and where they saw it ... . very collegial atmosphere and a great introduction to what biological research looks like in real life! We strongly recommend a stay here .....we loved it!

Heaven for birders; we saw 115 species in two days of hiking mostly paved trails. rooms are spartan but clean, with good hot showers and porches looking into the forest. The mattresses in our unit need replacing, and one of the ceiling fan lights could not be turned off-- apeoblem in units without air conditioning.

Very kind, welcoming, and helpful staff. Beautiful and biodiverse place with cozy cute cabins to stay in.

This property was especially excellent because of its hospitality, value, and quiet, non-touristy environment. Right when we arrived to check in, the staff were smiling and welcoming. They made us feel at home during our stay, and every time we would see them they would be happy to see us. For the price of this stay, there was so much value. Access to a large property, breakfast included, as well as a 3 hour private tour with Octavio. Even though I traveled with a friend with much knowledge in herping, Octavio was excellent at spotting species for us. He was funny and also interested in what we had to say. Being on this property was also nice because most of the people were biologists and researchers from universities. I really enjoyed the non-touristy environment of the area. I would definitely stay again, so much to see and do!
