瓦亭城堡酒店(Chateau de Varenne)

One of the most charming places we have ever stayed. Absolutely, jaw-droppingly stunning. Not only the chateau itself, the grounds, the environment - pure peace and tranquility - to the other guests, who all come and go in seemingly the same awe as we have, but the charm and warmth of Emma, Paul & the entire family, whose wonderful lives you witness if you are lucky enough, stay long enough or pay attention to. We feel totally blessed to have been able to stay in such a beautiful place, where it’s impossible to do anything but truly unwind, and to be hosted by such a welcoming family who run the place to perfection. This review may make this sound like a family retreat, for those seeking the hotel experience, don’t be misled… the hotel runs so smoothly you barely notice the efforts that go into readying everything; breakfast is wonderful!, the gardens are manicured, the plants watered, tables prepped with flowers and candles, lunch isn’t technically ‘on the menu!’ But our hosts happily obliged. The drinks and wine selections at the honesty bars were divine, the advice and tips as to where to visit; vineyards, local restaurants, towns, even to point in the direction of a lavender field… all fantastic. The games, the views which seemingly stretch for days…. the gorgeous character of the chateau, Woody the dog (who is gorgeous but whom you seldom notice if you are not an animal lover)… Every single aspect of this place and the experience is fantastic. We stumbled upon this gem via *********** nestled between Avignon & Chateauneuf du pape, but wow, a whole-hearted recommend! A must visit. We will be back!!

I had a wonderful experience staying at Chateau de Varenne. Staying at a French Chateau is my ultimate vacation. As much as I like Provence, it has been almost a decade since my last visit there as there are other places I want to visit also. I had hoped to stay in a Chateau while vacationing in Provence. I typically do not visit Europe for less than 2 weeks due to the long flight. It is not easy to take 2 weeks of vacation for an engineer in America nowadays, so when I know that I can possibly do something I want only once in a lifetime or have to wait a long time to do it again, I want to make sure I get the best I can get and Chateau de Varenne did live up to my expectations. I did not see any chateau properties with better character and charm than it at this price range. I stayed in their Luxury room and it was comfortable, clean and beautiful. The high ceiling with the bed canopy created a very relaxing a**osphere for a good night sleep. The breakfast was good with a wide variation of items and delicious breakfast pastries. The breakfast area evokes a sense of calm and tranquillity. The salon is elegant and classy. The chateau also has a pool. The property is beautiful and tastefully restored. The Chateau hosts are friendly and welcoming. The entire team is very attentive. I felt well-taken care of when I was there. It did feel like going back home at the end of the day and not just going back to rest for the night. Chateaux are not centrally located within towns and cities but the location of Chateau de Varenne is convenient from a chateau perspective. It is about 20 -25 min away from Avignon. I am grateful for this vacation experience and it means a lot to me. It is hard to be disappointed with a stay at this property.

This was our first stay but it will not be our last!! This beautiful château is everything we could want for a perfect stay. (Their website pictures are amazing but I assure you that it is even more stunning in person!!) The owners are absolutely delightful and helpful. The entire staff is so incredibly attentive as well. Cold water waiting in the refrigerator in the room. Amazing breakfast every morning. Coffee and tea available 24/7 in the breakfast salon. They are so helpful in making recommendations for wineries, restaurants, and really just about anything you could possibly need help with. So in love with the place and this area that we’ve already booked again for next year!!

When we were planning our trip in the South of France, my husband said that he wanted to stay at a bed and breakfast in a historic home. We did some research and found Chateau de Varenne. It looked wonderful and then managed to exceed our wildest expectations. The historic building is in immaculate condition and is beautifully furnished. The pool and grounds were stunning. The large French breakfasts were the best we had on our entire vacation. The laundry service was much appreciated as we were running out of clothes near the end of our trip. Emma and her family who run the place are extremely helpful, attentive, and kind. Emma assisted us with dinner and tourism recommendations. The Chateau feels like you are in the middle of nowhere with its peaceful beauty, but in reality you are steps away from great restaurants and a short drive away from the city of Avignon. I recommend Chateau de Varenne most highly.

My fiancé and I stayed here for a few days for our summer holiday. This was the most magical, romantic, and beautiful place I’ve ever stayed. The staff was so friendly and beyond nice. The breakfast was a great spread (and they were kind enough to lay out gluten free options for my fiancé each morning which was actually really good). I cannot stress how peaceful and relaxing being here was. 10 out of 10 experience.

While the beautiful grounds, chateau, and room are what first provided great impressions, it’s the considerate set-up of the amenities and most important the bespoke service that sets this property apart from other top hotels we have stayed at across Europe. Usually the details of the food, room, and decorations will gradually fade away once a great vacation is over, but our family will likely always remember the everything-fresh breakfast with our table set up with our room’s name, the chess session I taught my daughter in beautiful library room, and most important all the warm hospitality especially the chateau host Emma has extended to us. We look forward to our visit again!

We have just returned from a 4 day visit at Chateau de Varenne. We have stayed at many 5* hotels but this exceeds them all. Paul and Emma’s hospitality was at a different level from what we have ever experienced and they ensured we had a relaxed holiday. Highly recommend and we will definitely return!

Myself, my wife and our kids (3 boys aged 12,10 and 8) spent a week in Chateau de Varenne at the start of June. We had a brilliant time. The hotel is gorgeous, the rooms are spacious and elegant and the gardens are stunning. Emma, Paul and their family could not have done more to make us feel welcome and relaxed. They helped us organise day trips to a water park, kayaking on the Rhone and to a wine tasting. Avignon is 15 minutes away and is a beautiful town to visit. The breakfast on the terrace each morning was a highlight for the kids and Woody the dog was without a doubt the star of our holiday. Thanks Guys. We'll be back.
