Cabin on the Run is named after the beautiful run running behind the property with a babbling soundscape that can be heard from the expansive deck. Cabin on the Run provides all modern amenities so that you only need to bring clothes and food for a trip away.The spaceThe cabin is located in the Blue Ridge mountains, and is only a short drive from DC and Baltimore. Although the cabin is the forefront to 23,000 acres of forest (Sleepy Creek Wildlife Reserve) you are a part of the larger community of cabins in the golfing resort ‘The Woods’. It has everything you could need for a relaxing time away- high speed internet, gorgeous views, and plentiful wildlife. The cabin's open floor plan is perfect for entertaining with a full kitchen opening to the living room’s two story vaulted ceiling. The cabin has 1 bedroom and an open loft with room for many people to sleep. There is a mudroom to put all of your bags, coolers, and whatever else you may bring. There is a cozy reading nook leading out onto a large panoramic deck. The private primary bedroom houses a queen size bed and closet. The loft has one queen bed, two twin beds, and a twin floor bed. We also provide a pack and play and highchair for our younger guests that may be staying.The standard kitchen includes stainless steel appliances (including a full-sized refrigerator with freezer and oven with stove top), a traditional drip coffee maker, a toaster oven, toaster, microwave, blender, crockpot and all the pots, pans, and utensils you'll need. The living room has a flat screen HDTV with streaming services such as Netflix, and a wood stove for colder nights.Other things to noteThe Woods Resort is in a location that is accessible to both Sleepy Creek Lake and the Potomac River, both of which are great for boating and fishing alike. C&O Towpath and Western Maryland Rail Trail are accessible in Hancock, MD for those who have an interest in cycling. The cabin is also only 1 hour away from Whitetail Resort, known for snowboarding and skiing, as well as tubing for younger children. There are also many trails in the resort through the forest. You may see them driving through the neighborhood- which is one of our favorite things to explore and walk!Being close to Berkeley Springs, WV it is near many natural hot spring baths. Shepherdstown, WV and Harpers Ferry (Bolivar), WV are nearby as well. Both historic areas offer restaurants and shopping that are a nice way to explore the area around you. Martinsburg, WV is 20 minutes away where you can ride the rail access via Amtrak and MARC across the state for amazing views. You can also take the train into DC for a day exploring museums and monuments as well!The Woods Resort offers 36 holes of golf with mountain views as well as a full service spa and restaurant. There is a year round recreational center with an indoor pool and hot tub, as well as 2 outdoor pools. It also features a modern en-suite bathroom with a walk-in glass shower.The second bedroom on the opposite side of the cabin features a queen bed and large windows overlooking the firepit. The third bedroom is an open loft with two full beds that can sleep 4 kids or 2 adults. The second bathroom has been completely remodeled with a new tub and tile surround, a handmade rustic vanity, and full-length mirror.The newly renovated kitchen boasts hunter green cabinets, gold accents, and open shelving. Featuring a stainless-steel range, apron sink with garbage disposal, full-sized stainless-steel refrigerator with water and with an icemaker, microwave, toaster, and dishwasher, this kitchen makes cooking and cleanup easy. A large expanse of new quartz countertops makes it easy to prep and serve food. The stocked cabinets include pots, pans, baking sheets, bowls, and even olive oil and spices. To keep the chef company, guests can face the kitchen on bar stools at the custom-built wood table. A full-service coffee bar includes all you need to brew your cup or joe or fix a cup of tea.The living and dining rooms have wonderful open views with two-story vaulted ceilings and a full expanse of windows that overlook the woods. In the evening, head to the firepit for a cozy night outside under the string lights enjoying a glass of wine or a s'more.**The house is dog friendly, featuring a side yard that has a fenced in area for times that you just want to let the dog out but don’t want to take a long walk. The roads and driveway leading up to the home can get dicey. We do have snow plow and shoveling service at the home, but cannot guarantee a specific time the driveway and property will be plowed and shoveled. At The Nest, guests will enjoy:- A light-filled space with central AC/heating and a spacious Loft and Master Bedroom. Both rooms have sky lights and big windows (this means sunshine comes through in the morning). - The Master is on the main floor. It includes a private work space and porch, making The Nest perfect to enjoy a break from the office, while working remotely for the week. We upgraded our home to include satellite internet and are delighted that guests can check email, browse the internet, stream and video conference as needed.-The Loft is spacious and airy, featuring a Queen size bed as well as a Korean-style full bed. The loft includes a window to star gaze from and a portable crib for infants. - A modern, fully stocked kitchen with microwave, oven, InstantPot, Ninja Blender, toaster, coffee/tea, pots and pans, olive oil, and a well stocked spice rack. We hope you come out to enjoy it!****A Little About Our Location****The Nest Chalet is located in a quiet neighborhood on a 5-acre wooded property, so people can truly enjoy privacy and the natural beauty of this place. The drive up from Virginia (coming from Winchester) or West Virginia (coming from Martinsburg) is gorgeous in either direction, with tree-lined roads and a couple family-owned wineries on one side, and big farms and apple orchards on the other!For planning purposes, the closest grocery store is DG Market on Apple Harvest Drive and it is an 8-minute drive from our home. The closest town with gas stations, grocery stores, and food options is Inwood and is about an 15-minute drive from our home. Neighboring Martinsburg has grocery stores, restaurants and a cute downtown area. It is about 16 miles from our home and a 25-minute drive.Please see our house manual for local recommendations in Martinsburg, Winchester, Berkeley Springs, Shepherdstown, Harper’s Ferry and beyond.****Getting Around****You will need a car. Most times of year, any car will be just fine getting up here.During the winter (November - February), if it is snowing, we strongly recommend 4-wheel drive (and chains for your tires). Our neighborhood has gravel roads, so please do drive slowly.We have plenty of space for parking on the property.If you’re coming from DC, there is a MARC train that comes into Martinsburg once a day. Awesome creek views can be seen from either deck as well as the screen porch.Enjoy a memorable time by the outdoor fire pit while roasting marshmallows, take a nap overlooking the many trees and wildlife in your own hammock or cuddle with your sweetheart by the brick fireplace during those cold nights and watch a movie on the large Smart Big Screen TV. Home has both Ethernet and a wireless network for your computing needs. Smart TV allows you to sign into your own Netflix account and others to watch movies. Home has central air and heat allowing you to enjoy those home amenities away from home.Numerous indoor and outdoor amenities and activities are available for use within the resort, including indoor/outdoor pools and hot-tub, fitness center, tennis, racquetball, volleyball courts and playground.
