Ajay and Nisha were great hosts, we had such a lovely few nights at Tranquil. On arrival, we were presented with a superb late lunch, whech we really weren't expecting. Indeed, all the food was absolutely delicious, first rate. The evening bar was very good for meeting up with the other guests and, although maybe not everyone's ideal, we really enjoyed the communal eating arrangement. The swimming pool is gorgeous. Tranquil is in a fantastic location and the walking routes make it very special. Ajay also took time to show us the coffee plantation and explain the processes involved, which was much appreciated and very interesting. We stayed in one of the treehouses, which was great fun, even the monkey invasion on our last morning! Most of the time it was a very peaceful refuge, with just the sounds of the forest for relaxation. The treehouse is about to undergo a big refusrbishment - that would earn a 5th star from us I'm sure. Thank you to Ajay and Nisha and all the brilliant staff for a great stay.

Obsessed with this hotel, can not recommend it highly enough! The setting is mindblowing, it is up in the mountains surrounded by plantations. The best part of the hotel is that there are walking trails all around the grounds, with maps, signs and trail markings. The nature and scenery is outstanding. The hotel is decorated with millions of plants, some of which are in pots made from recycled materials, it is a complete oasis for nature lovers. I would highly recommend the treehouses but you need to book them in advance. Another amazing aspect of Tranquil was the food, everything was home-made including all the jams, chutneys and pickled condiments. The food was a buffet but it was always varied, we had a delicious coconut milk vegetable soup served in a whole green coconut! We booked for one night but loved it so much that we had to extend! The only negative is that we did a bag of laundry not checking the prices in the booklet in the room or asking the staff as we dropped it off in a rush, when we left we were charged £40 for it! The same bag of laundry was only £3 everywhere else in our trip, we were very shocked at the price and think the staff should always mention it is 50p for one sock so it doesn't come as a shock and the guests have a chance to reduce the quantity.

We stopped off here for a couple of nights on the recommendation of our tour company. A warm welcome from the owners was followed by a delicious late lunch, a bit of exploring and a few chilly lengths of the pool. The following morning, we walked up the hill through the coffee plantation, passing the workers collecting the beans. The paths are all marked and easy to follow and the views from the top are stunning. The sound of birds and the sun streaming through the high canopy is magical and every so often one comes across a troop of monkeys. After tea, which is very jolly with home made cakes, the owner gave us a tour of the coffee collection area and explained the process from bean to cup. It was all very informative and put the whole enterprise into perspective. In the background the workers were weighing their days work and spreading the beans in the sun. All in all a fascinating and charming place. Our treehouse, however, was a tiny bit disappointing. Having pored over the photographs at home it was a pity to find the room and particularly the bathrooms, dated and tired. The owner did mention that it was due for a refurb and that we were to be last guests in its present state (thanks!). The monkeys were a bit bothersome rendering the viewing terrace outside the bedroom unusable. An enjoyable stay nonetheless.

Lovely old coffee plantation house. Pretty, clean pool and peaceful setting. Very comfortable bed and well equipped room. Ajay and Nisha were very welcoming and all the staff very helpful and friendly. There are lots of trails to wander through to soak up the tranquillity. We did a couple of guided bird watching tours through the plantation and saw lots of lovely birds.

Tranquil Resort is a lovely property set within it's own coffee plantation and all sorts of beautiful trees in an undulating and mountainous landscape. We were given a very nice large, comfortable bedroom and equally large bathroom with a very spacious excellent shower. Adjacent to our room is a lovely long, shaded veranda with gorgeous plants and flowers around and in the in the gardens. Lovely to see and hear the birdlife among the branches. Our hosts Ajay and Nisha were extremely welcoming and we had ***y pleasant chats with them and they certainly made sure our needs were met. The food was excellent, always a superb buffet with plenty of choices for all palates set in a very pleasant situation adjacent to the main house. There are various types of accommodation including a tree house which looked gorgeous and I gather is superb with fantastic views. It was coffee harvest time so we were able to visit the plantation where the workers were picking the coffee beans ,then later the area where they were dried. On the plantation there are ***y well signed walking trails of varying lengths and gradients. A good leaflet was given to us with a map and also the species of birds you may likely see whilst there. We had a pretty Red Whiskered Bulbul regularly visit us beside the veranda. Also I saw a Bonelli's Eagle flying above the plantation. There is a very nice swimming pool and terrace and a relaxing bar area where you can have tea or drinks or practice yoga on the terrace above. Arrangements can be made to have an ayurvedic massage at the on site spa. There is a small shop on site where you can buy coffee and other items. On our agenda was a visit to the Edakkal Caves, a steep walk up with ***y steps but not too difficult , well worth a visit especially the cave etchings . Also we visited a tribal village and it's surroundings which was so interesting. A lovely place to spend 3 nights with plenty to do, would like to have been there longer.

Fantastic base while going on jeep safari at the nearby national forest. Accommodations in the Planter's old apartments surrounded by a working coffee plantation. Owner actually comes around to meet and talk to all the guests. Food top notch and in contrast to other homestay type facilities a full bar is available

By far, the best resort we have stayed at in India! We booked the treehouse experience which we would rate more than 5 stars if we could!!! We had stayed at another treehouse at a different resort in the Wayanad region but it was a 2-star experience compared to this one!!! The food is fabulous, service is top-notch and Ajay welcomes you so warmly you feel like you are staying at a friend-of-a-friend's grand estate! We really enjoyed the hikes, especially BraveHeart and were lucky enough to time our stay there with the coffee picking. Swamy kindly invited us to view the coffee drying area and explain all about the process. The massage team was the best we've had in India and we also had entertainment provided by a pair of visiting monkeys on our spacious treehouse terrace! We also saw some interesting birds, a Malabar giant squirrel and a barking deer during our walks. Two nights were definitely not enough: we would happily return! Glad to find out that the resort can serve a cocktail or a beer - not the norm in Kerala! What a great place to unwind and get away from it all!

Tranquil by name. Tranquil by nature. A stunning property with mixed use of natural forest, (robusta) coffee bushes, areca nut and coconut trees and other wild vegetation. Peaceful walks throughout the property are clearly marked (except the Indiana Jones route!), which is the best way to experience this place. We stayed in the exceptionally well appointed Tree House room, so had a superb view from a lofty height of the plantation. We also enjoyed the occasional visit from a troupe of playful monkeys that consider Tree House’s veran*** their play pen! Swamy and his team looked after us ever so well and if it’s your thing, we can highly recommend the Ayurvedic massage.

There are tree houses and there are tree houses and then there is the Tranquilitree Tree House, the only one you will ever need to stay in, ultimate luxury. This was the perfect small ocean of tranquility on a busy holiday tour of Southern India and in case I forgot to mention it, the tree house! Ajay and Nisha are the perfect hosts and they really care . The food is excellent as is the service, nothing is too much trouble. Sit on the balcony , 100m foot up in the rainforest and do nothing. You will not be disappointed, we're coming back. Thanks for looking after us.

A real gem of a hotel/homestay. The rooms are comfy, the food is plentiful and delicious, the service is impeccable and the setting is stunning. We spent a wonderful couple of days pottering around the various plantation trails, which were well marked and the view from the top of the braveheart trail is gorgeous. Highly recommended!!!

This place has a long list of goodness ... Location: tucked away inside a well-maintained coffee plantation giving the place a nice feeling of quiet comfort away from the bustles of the city. People: ***aged by Ajay & Nisha with a lot of personal touch and direct interaction with guests, ***ned by Swamy and a great team who shows genuine interest in ***aging our needs. Food: good spread of local food and home made pickles, jam, fruits. A slight flexibility on meal timing would have been great (I take dinner early, but here dinner is served at 08.30pm) Activities: ***y trails to walk and absorb the view, birds of ***y colours on the trees chirping all around us. Particular interest for me was the Brave Heart trail (going uphill and giving great views of the valley) and the Coffee Trail (going downhill under the canopy) Room: a nice room with proper hot shower, bathroom amenities, coffee-making facilities and good WiFi. Windows open with a view and has nets to prevent insects. Dogs: among the laziest you can find but so adorable!! We remember Duke fondly. On the whole, we felt at home and the serenity of the place was memorable. Our experience says "if in Wayanad again, this will be my place of stay"!

This resort nestled inside a massive plantation incapsulates all that is incredible about Kerala. Ajay & Nisha and their professional staff are excellent hosts who ensure you return again and again. Which is what we've done over the years and each time it has been uniquely special and profoundly memorable. You need minimum of 2 nights to begin to appreciate the beauty and wonder of Tranquil Resort...and no matter how ***y days or the number of times you return, you will never get enough of their food!! Can't wait to visit again in this new year!

Beautiful setting amongst the coffee plantation & we stayed in one of the tree houses. We were entertained by the monkeys playing on the veranda and roof but felt quite safe as we knew they couldn’t get in. Ajax the host was very welcoming & efficient and also the staff were too. Food was excellent. Definitely recommend.

We spent 4 nights at Tranquil staying in the smaller of the two treehouses (it isn't small). This was delightful. I have vertigo so was pleased that the access to it was fine and I also had no difficulties on the balcony. The treehouses are wonderful and absolutely recommended: really peaceful and pefect for watching woodpeckers, macaques and other birdlife. I was particularly lucky to spot a wild boar one morning. We spent all of our time at Tranquil walking the trails in an amongst the coffee plantation, eating or by the pool. The perfect contrast to the bustle of the cities, palaces and forts that we had experienced before arriving there. Food was really varied and really good. Would thoroughly recommend.
