Fuwang Mansion

Fuwang Mansion, also known as Jiuye Mansion, is located at No. 137 Chaoyangmen Inner Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing. It was built in the eighth year of the Yongzheng era of the Qing Dynasty (1730) and is a typical example of Qing Dynasty princely mansions. It is also one of the more complete princely mansions still existing in Beijing today. Fuwang Mansion faces south and is situated north of Chaoyangmen Inner Street, extending northward to the south of Dongsi Santiao Road, covering a total area of 44,000 square meters, with a central north-south axis of nearly 300 meters. The east-west architectural layout is divided into central, eastern, and western routes. The central route houses the main buildings, which were used for significant ceremonies. The western route consists of courtyard-style buildings, which served as residential areas, while the eastern route is mainly composed of row houses that were likely used for the mansion's treasury, kitchen, stables, and servants' quarters. Fuwang Mansion is a valuable example for studying the architecture of Qing Dynasty princely mansions and serves as an important reference for understanding the Qing Dynasty's ritual system and the life of the royal nobility. On August 21, 1979, Fuwang Mansion was announced by the Beijing Municipal People's Government as a municipal cultural relics protection unit of the second batch in Beijing. On June 25, 2001, it was proclaimed by the State Council of the People's Republic of China as a national key cultural relics protection unit of the fifth batch.
