Dongguan | Miaoxian, a place of many deities: Wen Guang Temple in Dalang

🟡Wen Guang Temple was originally built in the seventh year of the Chongzhen era of the Ming Dynasty (1634), and underwent major renovations respectively in the thirty-third year of the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty (1694), the nineteenth year of the Jiaqing era (1814), and in 1945. In 1991, with the financial support of compatriots in Hong Kong and local villagers, emergency repairs were carried out. Since then, Wen Guang Temple has been a place of 'morning incense and evening lamps,' with an unbroken stream of worshippers. Due to its architectural features and historical value, it has been designated as a cultural relic protection unit by Dongguan City. It is currently the only Confucian temple remaining in Dalang Town. 🟡Wen Guang Temple features a three-room, two-entry courtyard layout with a gable and hip roof, brick and wood structure. The first entry is an archway-style building, with the main gate and the gates on the left and right sides respectively bearing the sunken inscriptions 'Zhen Ming,' 'Li Men,' and 'Yi Lu,' with red sandstone plaques. The second entry has a two-story building, with stairs leading to the attic on both sides and firewalls with pot-ear designs. The second entry's divine building is also two stories high, with the first floor housing deities such as 'Guanyin,' 'Guan Di,' 'Bei Di,' 'Bai Yi,' 'Di Mu,' 'Bao Gong,' etc., and the second floor housing deities such as 'Wen Chang,' 'Yu Huang,' etc. On the right side of the gate archway, 'Tu Di Gong' is worshipped, and on the left, 'Men Shen' is worshipped, truly making it a small temple with many deities. 🚩 Wen Guang Road, Songbai Lang Village, Dalang Town, Dongguan City, can be found on Gaode Maps
