Samet Nangshe: A must-visit viewpoint near Phuket

Samet Nangshe Viewpoint is one of the most stunning viewpoints in the vicinity of Phuket. Located in Phang Nga Province (coordinates: 8.238551, 98.445312), it is 25 km from the Sarasin Bridge (north of Phuket) or 75 km (a 2-hour drive) from Patong. What makes it special: ▪️ At an elevation of 147 meters, it offers a panoramic view of Phang Nga Bay with its rocky islands. ▪️ Sunrises are particularly spectacular, as the sun rises directly over the bay. How to get there: ▪️ By private transport: Drive to the base of the hill, then take a pickup truck (90 baht round trip). ▪️ As part of a tour (popular routes include stops at Mai Khao Beach, Suwan Kuha Temple, and the sea gypsy village). Best time to visit: ▪️ Sunrise is the perfect time for photos. ▪️ After 4:30 PM offers soft light for portraits. ▪️ Noon is not recommended due to heat and haze, which can affect photo quality. (Unfortunately, my photos were taken at noon.) Where to stay: There are hotels nearby with views of the bay: ▪️ Samet Nangshe Boutique (4∗, elevation 26 m); ▪️ Beyond Skywalk Nangshi (elevation 18 m); ▪️ Samet Nangshe Goodview (3∗, elevation 144 m). What you can see from the viewpoint: ▪️ Ko Phra Wat Noi Island (rock height 146 m) dominates the panorama. ▪️ James Bond Island (7.3 km away) is barely visible. ▪️ A rugged coastline with mangrove forests and lagoons. Tip: Combine your trip with other locations: ▪️ Mai Khao Beach (plane spotting), ▪️ Suwan Kuha Temple, ▪️ A boat trip around the bay.
