Winter tramping, so cold but uncrowded. Had hut to ourselves and spent a wonderful day out on Gouland Downs looking for recently reintroduced takahe (lots of sign). Through track to coast still closed...

Outstanding even in pouring sideways rain
Just completed the track starting at Brown Hut and finishing at Kohaihai. The track is really great but does have changeable surfaces so make sure the shoes or boots you wear are accommodating to roc...
