Nice small preserve with a lot of history
Nice easy trail. We started counterclockwise on the boardwalk then continued on the shell trail. Signs with interesting history of the area tell the story of ancient graves found in the shell mounds...
Neal Preserve
Small well maintained walking trail with informative historic stopping points. There’s a nice tower to climb too.
Pleasant visit
Well laid out with suitable parking. Viewing tower towards bridge and Anna Maria Island. Wildlife, birds and lizards especially, in abundance.
A SERENCE WALK IN THE PRESERVE
I stayed at the Compass Margaritaville Hotel across from the preserve. My sons and I did a nature walk there. It was so serene and scenic. I saw plants that I never knew (as I come from the Midwest)...
Small and Serene
Small serene 120-acre wetland habitat with trails, boardwalk and an observation tower. Excellent for bird watching. I would recommend stopping if you are looking for somewhere to take a short walk.
