The cathedral of Saint Jean was built from the late 11th to early 16th centuries and was built in a very long time with a Gothic facade. Although the church is small, it is very high. It can be seen on Mount Fuvier.

The cathedral is pretty standard for its kind (not to say it's not beautiful - the stained glass windows are beautiful and the architecture is quite impressive) but what makes this place stand out is its astronomical clock. Maybe I'm just a geek, but the science behind this working clock is just amazing (plus it features little figurines that pop out and move around on a track).

The church is located in the old town of (Vieux Lyon), at the foot of Mount Fuvier, where European Renaissance architecture is concentrated. St. George's Church, St. Jean's Church and St. Paul's Church showcase Lyon's Renaissance masterpieces, and the pedestrian streets of the old district must not be missed.
