南湖倒映着一排美輪美奐、黛瓦白牆的建築，最顯眼的，就是扼守村口主要道路的南湖書院。最早的南湖書院建於明朝末年，一共有六座私塾，所以會聽到有人講“依湖六院”。後來六座私塾合併。歷史上，這些書院一定被毀過，建築內部非常空，陳設也是現代的仿品，內部的院子有許多空曠的地方，可能是建築遺址。籍貫宏村，曾出任過北洋政府國務總理的汪大燮在這裏啟蒙。

宏村南湖書院，這個學堂建的很高，充滿了威嚴感。使人不禁出敬畏之心！橫樑用香樟木驅蟲去蛀，廊上長方形寒冷的造型再次彰顯了寒門出貴子、寒窗苦讀的成功

始建於明末，古代的私塾，有四五棟建築，教書的地方，典型的徽派古建築，後面還有一個操場，主要看看建築和門窗雕花，牆上有的地方有相關介紹，可以了解一下。

南湖書院是宏村風景區裏面一個很大的景點，在明末所建。本來有六所私墊，後來合併了，就成為宏村最大的南湖書院了。書院是典型的徽派風格的古書院。裏面有啟蒙閣，會文閣，等等。佔地要6000平方米。是宏村参觀的重頭戲之一。

南湖書院景色很美，值得去看一看。
