Swayanblatt is one of Nepal's world cultural heritage sites. It means "auto-luminescence". Built 2500 years ago, the temple is the oldest Buddhist temple in Nepal. Because there are many monkeys in the temple, it is named Monkey Temple. Legend has it that the Kathmandu Valley used to be a large lake. A small island in the lake was full of Golden Lotus blossoms. The Great Day Buddha came here to show its sanctity. Later, the lake retreated and formed the Kathmandu Valley. The island became a small hill. The believers built a temple on the top of the mountain, which is now the Swayambuna Temple. Because there are hundreds of wild monkeys regularly fed by monks, commonly known as "Monky temple". The base of the tower is a white hemisphere covered with bowls, and the height of the tower is 10 meters. The circular symbol "ground" on the first floor of the base, the square symbol "air" on the second floor, the triangle symbol "water" on the third floor, the umbrella symbol "fire" on the fourth floor, and the spiral symbol "life" on the fifth floor. The tower body is the apex of the square pedestal, which is brilliant. The pagoda is painted with Nepalese eyes on all sides. The pyramid is a thirteen-layer gold-plated wheel ring, representing thirteen levels and knowledge. This is the way to Nirvana. A huge gem is embedded in the apex of the umbrella cover on the top of the pyramid, representing Nirvana.
