老玫瑰皇冠酒店(Old Rose and Crown Hotel Birmingham)

I had a pleasant welcoime and was told that the heating in the room was off, so I would need to turn on the radiator. Fair enough. Why heat an empty room? This is a lovely old building which must have at one time been a lovely old pub. However, the problem is that it comes with all the things you would associate with a lovely old building! Its a bit noisy due to there being no double glazing and being next to a fairly busy road. No breakfast and no evening restaurant, which is exactly as advertised, so I was prepared for that, but the room I was in only had one working radiator, which was not timed to come one all that early in the morning meaning a rather chilly start to my day. As a one night inexpensive stop over, its OK, but be prepared for creaky floorboards, aging window frames and please don't try to compare it with any of the chain hotels.

Had my Birthday Party at the hotel. Very friendly, good food and great value for money. All eleven rooms were allicated to my event making it more intimate. Rooms were clean and fresh with comfortable beds. Breakfast was lovely, food excellent and we were seated around lovely big table where we were able to chat. I had a wonderful party, everything went swimmingly. Thank you to the team for a wonderful night.

Picked the hotel for its location, it is now run mostly for daytime events, so there is no catering for residents. Couple of pubs etc within walking distance (summer), The Duck Pond Cafe serves as the breakfast option, fine if all you want is coffee in a paper cup and a sandwich in a bag. Nothing grand. The room was clean and comfortable, rather tired looking. Bathroom v clean but shower just a variable dribble. Had to ask for tea/coffee and loo rolls as no housekeeping. They are honest about the limitations, but be prepared.

If you like older hotels with some character then this should suit you. The location within the lickey hills park is brilliant with walks within some stunning mature mixed woodland yards from the door. Waking up to such a view was a gift - and even more realising the fox and chickens on the roof line of the thatched house opposite to the hotel Room was clean spacious with broad open views, bathroom clean and adequate- not up to the minute fashionable and the better for it

No real service, people there you can contact but realistically you are on your own. They have tried with the decor but it isn't great. Loose tile on the bathroom floor, bit mouldy, shower cold etc etc. Would rate as a 2 star and certainly not the rate I paid

We had my mums funeral wake here this week and everything went very smoothly. Nice Buffett teas and coffee. Everyone was very helpful under difficult circumstances. Would recommend to others. Thank you

Very please with the room I received and the ground are lovely to sit in on a sunny day. Plenty of pub and food outlets within a short walking distance.

I really enjoyed my stay and was blown away by the quality of the room I was in. I opened the door and was not expecting the room to be so nice

We booked the Old rose and crown for our wedding reception, the service we received from the hotel was amazing, the staff were always friendly and helpful and made sure our day was perfect and catered to our needs. The location was great and our guests said how beautiful the grounds were and how nice the rooms were as well. Would definitely recommend them for any special events.
