hat is one kind of experience that I would like to forget soon... It all started with a mess up of my booking for a business trip in Sofia. So, I ended by staying the Grand Millennium which is not usually my choice. Hotel is somewhat close to centre but still not that close to allow walks for my business meetings. Check in was fairly smooth but now after reading some of the 1 star reviews, I can confirm that the receptionist's welcome could have been better. Being first time visitor, there was no information about breakfast (though included in the rate), gym, etc. I was given a premier room. The room was nice, very spacious, high quality amenities, floor to ceiling windows with nice views over the city and all looked clean. So I happily parked myself on the sofa and started working on my emails (good wifi). After some time, I caught some movement on the floor with the corner of my eye...and the fun started....initially I thought it was a kitten, then I panicked as it resembled to a rat until finally my brain processed the image of the bulgy eyes and wings and realised I was looking at a bat who was probably as confused as I was. I called the reception immediately and yes they did send help. A brave lady whom I like to thank as she was not scared and assured me she will not kill the bat but call the environment protection association. I asked to be moved to another room preferably to a lower flower :). They moved me from 21 to 20 as hotel was fully booked. I asked for the house keeping to come and have an extra look for my peace of mind. They sent another nice lady who was trying to assure me no bat family is hidden in the curtains, under the bed, etc. But the whole thing ruined my experience and spent my night with the lights on trying to figure out if bats can hide in the fake ceiling, if they can accidentally fall on your face while you are sleeping, if they sat on a pillow do they leave any marks, or if they are indeed to be blamed for covid. I am a frequent traveller and I recently returned from Mauritius where nature and wildlife are quite dominant, so how in the world you can find a bat in an urban jungle five star hotel room ?!?!?!?!?
I missed my flight at sofia airport so had to book a hotel for one night. So I went for a mid range hotel. It was better than mid range. Lovely helpful staff on reception, an aceptable price with thier discount....paid 68 euros for a large kingsize bed with onsuite bathroom. Comfortable bed, fresh pillows (very snazzy cushions too) and a nice relaxing corner sofa, reasonable TV and every thing was realyl clean. Complimentary coffee and tea, which is not the norm in Bulgaria, nice and quiet, was lovely and warm. Actualyl a bit too warm and I couldnt turn the heating down so I had to sleep wit hte fridge open to cool off as aircon didnt work. THis was the only negative for me. They did an airport pickup, but not a drop off and this nearly stopped me booking, as they should have told me this at the begining, however they were saved by the fact the metro was 4 stops to the airport and cost me 1.60 leva, so about 70p. I picked up food from the little shops in the metro, as I hit a holiday so the restaurants close by were closed. A very lovely stay and Id go there again. AND they had these lovely drop lights near the bed as side lights, some veyr nice touches, clean crisp sheets, soft towels and nice soaps etc and they dont ask you to leave till 12 lunch time. My photo doesnt do the room justice
We had a nice stay. Upgraded to business room. Breakfast buffet was large and good. A super big indoor pool with sauna and spa. Location is quite good. Near central station and about 20min walk to city center. Reception staff was very friendly and helpful. Good value for money.
I stayed here on two separate nights on either end of a 5 day trip to Varna. I chose the BW as it is right next to the train station. It is perfect for anyone looking to stay close to the trains. The airport is only a 25 min ride away on the subway. There are dining options and grocery stores close by. One weird thing happened when i stayed though, and this was why i gave 3 stars. When i arrived, i went right to bed as i had been traveling for about 15 hours. I was awoken to a staff member entering my room to fix a light. No warning, no time to put clothes on.... just came in. I was so tired i just let do his thing, but any other person may have been very disturbed by this. I could have been in the shower, or otherwise indisposed. Anyways, other than that, the stay was good.
The hotel was nice and clean. Why the 2 stars? I did extensive research to make sure all of our hotels had independent AC in the rooms. My family and I had 2 different rooms...and both were incredibly hot. I called to reception to tell them that the thermostat wasn't working, only to be told it's only central. Our rooms were facing west, so it was hot all afternoon. Luckily they jad free rooms facing the other side. Also, a free airport shuttle is included (only reason why we stayed here). The 5am shuttle was over booked and the hotel was nice enough to have scheduled taxis for free for everyone...expect...the taxi drivers don't speak English (why would they?) So a bunch of different people of various nationalities were trying to find ”their” taxi...and none of the hotel reception staff who spoke English came out to help. I have no expectation that taxi drivers in any country speak English, but if a busines/airport hotel orders them for the overflow business people, they need to help the drivers and the hotel guests. I would not stay here again.
KKonstantin AlekseevClean, perfect location, free parking. The beds are a bit hard and it would be better of you guys check whether the bottles of water in the rooms are full; mines were empty.
The hotel is just a few steps from the “European Union” metro station just south of the center of Sofia. The hotel and neighborhood are both quiet, safe and conveniently located to what I must say is Sofia’s excellent Metro system (you can get almost anywhere in no time for very cheap)! I got to the airport from here in about 35 minutes (not rush hour). The bathrooms are newly refurbished and the rooms are quite large. The decoration is a bit dated (in an older Bulgarian style), but the furniture and king-sized bed were quite comfortable. They allow smoking in the building (so if this is a deal-breaker, go somewhere else). I, for one, am not bothered by it, so I found the hotel quaint and appropriate for my stay. The staff was polite and very helpful. Their English was quite good. For approximately $70, you cannot pass this hotel up.
訪訪客This hotel is in an excellent location: about 10 minute walk from the bus/train station; 5 minutes walk to the metro; 20 minutes walk to the city centre. So from that perspective, it fit my needs perfectly. The staff I encountered were very friendly and helpful, so that was a major plus. The rooms, well, a bit of a mixed bag. While the rooms were VERY spacious, and had a great little balcony, from which I enjoyed a few drinks in the evening, the room really needed to be renovated. The word I described it is “shopworn”. Look at my photos of the room and you can see the broken couch and stained carpet. I would also say that the cleaning staff is a little lacklustre. While not “dirty” per sae, it certainly could be cleaned better. Some minor renovations and better cleaning would have me rating this hotel as a “five”.
JJerzy8Typowy 4* hotel. Niedaleko piechotą do centrum ok. 15 minut. Pokoje ciasne. Można otwierać okna. Czysto. Codziennie sprzątane. Beznadziejne śniadania. Wręcz lodowata jajecznica i jajka sadzone. Fatalna kawa z dodatkiem mleka w proszku. Na parterze ******, które wieczorową porą przyciąga szemrane typy. Bardzo drogi parking 25 euro za dobę.
