I'm pretty disappointed to have to 2-star this because the staff was very nice while I was there. They were polite, attentive, and easy to reach. But the hotel itself is just too run down to earn more stars (especially considering that it's priced in roughly the same neighborhood as more modern and high end hotels in the same neighborhood).
I honestly don't like to nitpick hotels. For the most part if it's clean, bright, and has modern amenities, I'm perfectly happy. Here, there were worn out spots in the carpeting on the floor, the tub didn't retain water, the TV was roughly 24-36 inches and didn't get many channels, the wake up call system wasn't automated, and they didn't even have glasses in the room. All of these individually are minor annoyances, but they all add up. This wouldn't have bothered me too much except the hotel was pricey (as I mentioned above). They had some interesting historical mementos hanging on the hallway walls, but the markers are worn and scratched.
This hotel has a lot of potential and, again, the staff were very nice. But it needs a lot of love to restore it before I'd journey back.
