Western Sichuan snow mountain adventure, ate yak meat, is wearing just one layer enough to resist the cold?

Let me tell you, I’m starting to feel like a seasoned outdoor enthusiast. 📍4188 meters elevation, a 9km round-trip hike with a 390m ascent at Honghaizi, walking from Honghaizi Scenic Area to Mugecuo and back. I strolled along chatting with my boyfriend about the movie "Wild Times" we watched together a few days ago at the Kangding cinema, exchanging some film analysis and audiovisual language insights, later diving into discussions about the movie’s meaning in our lives. I’ve been in Sichuan for almost 10 days, with outdoor activities planned as well as daily work as an outdoor blogger. Probably because I hadn’t rested well recently, I started having a sore throat as soon as I landed in Chengdu. So I drank lots of water with vitamin C, hot water, and gargled with warm salt water, treated myself to yak meat hotpot for three days straight, and began a relaxed life of cafes and cinemas. Maybe I was too good to myself because I was fully recovered in two days. Women should always treat themselves well (hands on hips, proud). For the last outdoor activity of our Western Sichuan road trip, we chose a leisurely hike at Honghaizi. The temperature was too low a few days ago, freezing the lake at Zheduo Mountain into an ice lake. This time, I saw a different blue lake here. I walked between rocks and ice, hearing the clear creek water flowing beneath the ice, the charming water flow looking especially pure under the clear sky and white snow mountains. The wind stirred sparkling ripples on the lake surface, herds of yaks grazed on the distant mountains, and the crisp sound of breaking ice underfoot occasionally echoed. Time passed between such heaven and earth, life was well lived. 💜 Lately, I’ve been into abstract things. A few days ago, I recorded blessing videos for people on the snow mountain. This time, I wanted to test if eating yak meat helps resist the cold, and show off my wool thermal base layer. If my mom knew, she’d definitely say I’m showing off, but it’s okay—I tucked my thermal shirt into my long johns, not forgetting my Northeastern roots. For long trips, I like wearing this kind of comfortable outfit that doesn’t smell even after several days and doesn’t need washing. Next, I’m heading back to Hangzhou for camping and playing with fire. I’ve prepared some fun campfire tricks these days, and I’ll make videos to share with everyone later!
