Edgar of the Gongga Peaks: The Savage Giant

It's the first time I've used the word "stunning" to describe a place. From November 29 to 30, the weather was perfect for two consecutive days, allowing for 360-degree unobstructed shots—absolutely amazing. The autumn and winter seasons are the best times to photograph the golden sunlight on the eastern slope of Gongga, so let's set off quickly. (Among the Gongga peaks, the 6,618-meter Savage Giant—Edgar Peak—is currently the only mountain named directly after a foreigner, the British-Australian missionary James Huston Edgar (Chinese name Ye Changqing), using a transliteration of his original name.
