This trip to Xi'an with my mom, we chose the "Sofitel Legend Hotel," known as "China's only legend" hotel. From the moment we stepped into the lobby, I knew it was different from other hotels. 🏛️ Location · Prestigious Serenity in the Heart of the City The hotel is in downtown Xi'an, right next to the provincial government, within walking distance to the Bell Tower, Drum Tower, Yongning Gate, and Muslim Quarter. Outside is the bustling city traffic, inside it’s as quiet as a museum. The building itself has history, built in 1953, having hosted countless heads of state and celebrities, now transformed into the only member of the Sofitel Legend series in China. "Legend" is not a gimmick, it’s heritage. ✨ Check-in Experience · Amazed by Details Every Moment From the moment we arrived at the door, a butler greeted us and helped with luggage. Check-in wasn’t at the front desk but guided to a lounge area to sit down, with tea, towels, and drinks all served, making the whole process feel very ceremonial. The best part about bringing mom is: she feels the happiness of being cared for even faster than I do. Before we even got the room card, the luggage was quietly delivered to the room. The room is spacious and elegant, wooden lines + French wall lamps + thick curtains, every detail radiates the warmth of time. The MyBed™ mattress is so comfortable, even I, who suffer from chronic insomnia, fell asleep instantly. ☕️ Public Spaces · Like Vacationing in Old Europe The lobby is truly stunning, with high ceilings, arched corridors, and terraces on every floor, offering views of the central courtyard. Every corner looks like a movie scene. Afternoon tea is served at the 1953 Lobby Bar on the first floor, where the staff are gentle and professional. 🍳 Breakfast · This Is the Standard of a Luxury Hotel Breakfast is a semi-buffet plus à la carte, Western cold cuts, fruits, salads, cream puffs, egg tarts... Chinese options include freshly cooked noodles, congee, and hot dishes. The biggest surprise was their Eggs Benedict and popcorn chicken, plated like works of art. The coffee beans are from illy, and even the orange juice is freshly squeezed, perfectly balanced sweet and sour. 💆 Wellness and Pool The wellness center is much larger than I expected, with a heated pool, gym, steam room—all available, the water is clear, the lighting soft. After swimming, soaking in the hot bath before heading upstairs to rest, completely relaxing. It doesn’t show off or brag, but in every gesture it tells you: this is the standard of "top luxury." When mom left, she said: "This place is so wonderful, next time I come to Xi'an, I’ll stay here again." I smiled and thought—being kinder to family means letting her remember this gentle prestige.
