武功山位於中國江西省中西部，居羅霄山脈北支，山體呈東北—西南走向，地跨江西省萍鄉市蘆溪縣、吉安市安福縣、宜春市袁州區，主脈綿延120餘千米，總面積約970平方千米。武功山主峰白鶴峰（金頂）海拔1918.3米。自漢晉起，武功山被道佛兩家擇為修身養性之洞天福地，明朝時香火達到鼎盛時期，山南山北建進了庵、堂、寺、觀達100多處。自唐宋以來，諸多仰慕其名而登山游賞吟詩作賦的名人學士絡繹不絕。武功山有山嶽型國家重點風景名勝區、國家AAAAA級旅遊景區、國家級風景名勝區、國家森林公園、國家地質公園、國家自然遺產、中國青少年戶外體育運動營地等。2009年，武功山被中國國家地理評為中國十大“非著名”山峰之一。
