| Three Exhibitions Fans of Hong Kong Dramas Can't Miss. August coincides with the Hong Kong Pop Culture Festival, and together with friends, we visited the Hong Kong Heritage Museum in Sha Tin, bringing you a fresh and hot exhibition express~
.
1、【Continuing the Adoration: Leslie Cheung Memorial Exhibition】
Themed 'Only love and longing can traverse time and space,' the exhibition is co-curated by the Hong Kong Heritage Museum and three of Leslie Cheung's close friends (Chen Shufen, Zhang Shuping, Xia Yongkang) from his lifetime. Through trophies, records, old photos, and performance costumes, we are taken back to review Leslie's artistic achievements and his impact on Hong Kong's pop culture, commemorating the 20th anniversary of his passing.
For the first time, four of Leslie's stage costumes are displayed in mid-air, such as the red cape from 'Crossing 97', the sparkling stone suit and red high heels; the white feather outfit and blue beaded jeans from the 'Passion Tour' and more. The entire exhibition hall is bathed in red neon light, as if he has never been far away.
With a ticket, you can receive a free commemorative poster of Leslie at the exit of the memorial hall.
📍Exhibition location: Second floor exhibition space of the museum
📅Exhibition period: From now until October 9, 2023
2、【Creating from Nothing: Hong Kong Film Art and Costume Design Exhibition】
'The light and shadow on the silver screen are like an unlocked door, allowing us to easily break into another time and space, temporarily withdrawing from ordinary life.' Hong Kong cinema has always been blooming with diversity, and the surreal world displayed on the screen is inseparable from the efforts and contributions of the art and costume design teams. The exhibition, through a series of costume designs, draft drawings, industry tools, and scenes, leads us into the behind-the-scenes world of films, experiencing the establishment process of Hong Kong film art professionals, and feeling the professionalism and dedication of film workers.
Because Hong Kong cinema does not have the habit of preserving costumes or props, the exhibits on display are all treasured collections gathered over many years. For example, the court attire from 'Curse of the Golden Flower', Maggie Cheung's ancient red dress from 'Hero', Wong Cho-lam's barrister's robe from 'The Sharp-tongued Lawyer', and Brigitte Lin's coat from 'Chungking Express' are all real costumes and props seen in Hong Kong films, appearing before our eyes, enough to shock me, who has been a fan of Hong Kong films since childhood.
📍Exhibition location: First floor of the museum
📅Exhibition period: From now until September 4, 2023 (Ticket price 10HKD)
