As the high-speed rail network continues to expand and improve, traveling between Hong Kong West Kowloon Station and major cities across mainland China is easier than ever. Whether you’re popping over to Shenzhen or Guangzhou for a day, or embarking on a longer journey to Beijing or Shanghai, all you need is a single high-speed rail ticket to get on your way with ease. Although e-tickets are now the norm, many travelers still prefer—or may be required—to collect a physical ticket. This guide will walk you through how to pick up your Hong Kong high-speed rail tickets, important things to note, and practical tips to help you prepare thoroughly before you go.
If you’ve booked a paper train ticket, you can collect them at any train station in Mainland China or from an authorized ticket agent. If you’re collecting it at a station ticket window, please present your ticket collection code and the valid IDs used by all passengers at the time of booking.
If you need to collect your high-speed rail tickets in Hong Kong, head to the ticketing concourse on Level B1 of Hong Kong West Kowloon Station. There, you’ll find self-service ticket machines and staffed counters where you can pick up tickets, purchase new ones, make changes, and process refunds.

*If you’ve purchased an e-ticket (you’ll automatically receive it as soon as your booking is successful), there’s no need to pick up a physical ticket. Please make sure all passengers traveling with e-tickets carry the valid ID used at the time of booking throughout the journey.

Depending on how you purchase your tickets, the collection process will differ:
Our self-service machines support multiple forms of ID, including the Hong Kong Identity Card and the Home Return Permit (Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents).
The steps are as follows:
If you run into any of the following situations, we recommend visiting a staffed counter for assistance:
*Please have ready: your ticket purchase confirmation/order number and your original, valid ID.
If you plan to collect your Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link (XRL) tickets in Hong Kong, please note that additional fees apply. To save on costs, it’s usually better to collect tickets in mainland China if possible.
