The MacLehose Trail is Hong Kong’s most famous long-distance hiking trail, about 100 kilometers in total, divided into ten sections, and rated by National Geographic as one of the best hiking trails in the world. Section 2 is recognized as the most scenic and diverse part of the entire trail, suitable for first-timers and hikers seeking mountain and sea views. Cross the border at Futian/Lo Wu Port → MTR University Station Exit B From University Town Exit B, take a taxi → Man Yee Reservoir East Dam, about 230 HKD, carpooling available. Exit B2 leads directly to the MTR station, where green taxis often wait. Recommended check-in spots: Po Pin Chau – Lang Ke Wan is perfect for photos, so take plenty! Route: Man Yee Reservoir East Dam → Po Pin Chau (round trip) → Lang Ke Wan → Sai Wan Shan → Sai Wan Pavilion → Sheung Yiu (bus stop) Distance: about 17 kilometers Duration: 6-8 hours (including photos and breaks) Difficulty: Moderate (some sections involve climbing; Po Pin Chau requires rock climbing) Highlights: Geological wonders, island scenery, beach coastline Pay attention to the time! Last bus from Sai Wan Pavilion is at 16:30 Last bus from Pak Tam Au is at 18:00 If you miss the bus at Sai Wan Pavilion, you can only take a taxi (few cars available, starting fare 100 HKD per person to University Station) or walk to Sheung Yiu bus stop. We missed the last bus and ended up walking to Sheung Yiu bus stop, which took about an hour.
